Lily Joseph

Lily Joseph

Lily Joseph was born and raised in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, where she also went to university to study Dentistry. Now living in the North Yorkshire countryside, she spends half of her week treating patients and the other half writing books. While dentistry itself isn't the typical background for a writer, Lily finds that working with lots of diverse and varied people is amazing inspiration for understanding how people think, and that even seemingly ordinary people have a story to tell.

Lily has a passion for books about romance, particularly stories that can make the reader both laugh and cry. This love of rom-coms led her to join the Romantic Novelist's Association, with whom she worked on completing her current novel, The Near Miss, while becoming part of a lively and motivational writing community.

The Near Miss was inspired by a real-life close encounter with a window dropped from a first floor, which posed the question - are we sometimes only seconds away from a twist of fate that can change our lives? And if so, are we sometimes only inches away from that one important person without even realising?

When not reading, writing, or spending too much time on Twitter, Lily enjoys being with her family - partner Chris, and children George and Freya. She also enjoys buying equipment for hobbies that she'll never maintain, such as running, golf and tap dancing because, after all, she'll trade hobbies for curling up with a good book any day.

Lily also writes crime fiction under the name Sarah Williams. Her current work in progress has been shortlisted for the Lindisfarne Prize for Crime Fiction, an award that celebrates writers and stories based in the North-East of England.
