Helen Parusel
Helen Parusel lives in Hamburg, Germany but was born and grew up in North London. At school, her favourite subject was English, and her head was always full of stories she’d read or made up. Although she considered studying English further, she accepted at traineeship at Marks and Spencer.
One summer she flew alone to Majorca for a well needed holiday. Despite the many Brits there, it was a young handsome German who captured her heart. After months of expensive flights and eye watering telephone bills, she took the plunge and packed her bags. Leaving family and friends behind she arrived in Germany knowing only her boyfriend and speaking not a word of German.
Helen and her boyfriend married and shortly after, a beautiful baby girl was born. When Helen’s daughter started kindergarten, parents asked Helen to teach their children English. That’s how Helen’s ‘Busy Bee Club’ began, teaching English through stories, games and songs.
Helen also worked for the local adult education school, teaching a class of mostly retired students. Their fascinating stories of the war years and her own love of historical fiction inspired her first WW2 novel which she started when empty nest syndrome loomed.
When not writing, Helen likes to dance around the kitchen to 80s songs or walk their lovable but somewhat crazy rescue dog.
Helen has signed a three-book deal with Boldwood Books and her debut is out now: A Mother’s War
Her second book is also available: The Austrian Bride
